<Having trouble sending email with
pictures?>
Here's some things to check in your
Outlook Express program:
1. Open Outlook Express: Click on
tools, options, security tab,
and uncheck the boxes that block
attachments and pictures,
click apply and OK.
2. Click on tools, options, send tab,
and make sure that your
options for sending email show "html"
selected. Click apply and OK.
3. Always click forward, not reply, to
send pictures and click on format in the menu, and make sure that
there is a checkmark next to "send pictures with message".
That should help! :)
<Great news! Microsoft has entered into
a partnership with
several Antivirus companies, and one company is offering
1 full year free>
Microsoft has a great partnership set up
recently to let you try EZ
Trust antivirus software free for 1
year, or you can buy 2 years for
just 19.95. It's a great program, and
I highly recommend it.
Here is the link to the Microsoft
downloading page:
There are other companies, Symantec, Panda, McAfee,
and others that are also offering free 90 day subscriptions. Be
sure you uninstall your old Antivirus software before you install a
new one.
<Let's talk about DSL and Cable Internet
Connections>
A comparison is available on some aspects of the
dialup and broadband connections: Cable vs. DSL
on my website:
http://www.internetguideandmore.com/cabledsldialup.htm
Click on my DSL link (above) to
check for your residence or business availability for DSL in your
area. The DSL website is a little confusing, but if you read it
well, you'll see where to click to
check on your residence in your city
for availability.
Now that I have a DSL connection from my internet
provider, NTS Communications,Inc., I have a personal
opinion on DSL and from a experienced maintenance and
repair standpoint, an opinion on Cable, as well.
**Quick tip for fix a broken internet
connection with a DSL or Cable modem: unplug the power to the modem
while the computer is on, and then plug the power jack back in. Let
all the green lights come back on, and now see if you can connect.
Also, you might need to restart your computer. This is called
rebooting your modem.
<Disable your antivirus software to
install a program>
If you are using Norton anti-virus
software, you right-click on the icon in the systray (taskbar next to
the time) and click disable
auto-protect. With the newer versions 2004 on up, you will have the
option to set a time, 15 minutes will usually take care of the time
involved to install a new program, and then it will automatically
restart the program. A red X will be showing on the icon and you can
also manually right click on the icon, after the
installation to enable, or just restart
your computer. It is always best to disable antivirus software
whenever you install any software.
It will work similarly for any other antivirus software. You may
have to exit and then restart the program manually or just restart the
computer.
<To adjust AutoComplete settings>
You can configure AutoComplete to save and suggest only the
information you want. You can choose whether to use AutoComplete for
Web addresses, forms, and passwords, or not use it all. You can also
clear the history for any of these.
In Internet Explorer, on the Tools
menu, click Internet Options.
Click the Content tab. Under Personal
information, click Auto
Complete. Select the check boxes for the AutoComplete options you
want to use.
<Alphabetize your favorites>
Make sure that the favorites link is in
your start menu; if you don't see it when you click on the start
button:
For XP users: Click on start, control
panel, taskbar and start
menu icon, click start menu tab, click on
customize, click the
advanced tab, and click in the checkbox
next to favorites menu.
Now, click on start, favorites, and
anywhere on the menu right
click and in the menu that drops down,
click "sort by name".
I'm going from memory on this, but I think
that Windows 98
users, click start, settings, start menu &
taskbar, customize,
and click box next to favorites, apply and
OK. And then click on start, favorites, and anywhere on the menu
right click and in the
menu that drops down, click "sort by
name". That's it.
