Wow, the summer is gone, and I know it's been a long time since you all have heard from me. I have two great sons, 11 & 13, and they really keep us busy in the summertime, really all the time. I've been working a lot, and have prepared a few programs lately for some organizations, and I wanted to share that knowledge with you. For some, this will be old news, but for others, I hope it will open up a world of digital cameras, and give you the confidence to go out and buy a digital camera, use it, share your pictures, and be creative.

<Digital Camera Tips>

· Buying a Digital Camera: Look for more optical zoom, 4X or better.
Canon makes great user friendly cameras.
· Purchase a USB card reader to simplify picture to computer transfer. When you plug in the USB reader, it becomes a new drive in My Computer, and you just double click it until you get to your pictures. Then you can copy to a folder or delete them from your memory card all at the computer. Readers make it easy to share your pictures on someone else's computer, too, as long as they are using Windows XP.
· Resolution is less important than you think. (3.2 or 4mp is just great!)
· Download Picasa, a great free program to organize your photos: Find it at http://picasa.google.com
· Get a large LCD Screen on the back to preview your pictures.
· Print and display your pictures (best value at Walgreens or Walmart),
· Don't put all your pictures on one memory card—four 256MB cards is a better choice than a single 1 Gigabyte memory card. If a memory card is lost or fails, you won't lose them all.
· Travelers should use cameras with AA Batteries (Energizer E2 Lithium line is a good one). 2 or 3 sets of batteries can usually take you through a 10-day trip.
· Display your pictures as a screensaver: Simply right-click on your desktop, click Properties Screensaver/My Picture Show, Settings, and you can direct your computer to the pictures you wish to use. Set the screensaver to change images every 10 seconds and you'll have an instant slide show every time your computer is idle.

<Buying a new computer with Windows XP>

Here are the basics you should look for:

      512mb – 1GB memory

      80+GB hard drive

      DVD/CD writer

      1 year warranty on parts/labor

      Stay away from E-machines.

<Computer Card Programs>

· You can pick up some great deals at http://amazon.com. Their sellers are selling New programs at a fraction of the cost. Type in computer · Buy your card supplies at Walmart, they have the envelopes(50) and card stock (150 sheets) for less than $5 a package.

· You’ll need a good color printer, and only buy the white card stock.

· You can print envelopes, too, but use Word to print them. It’s more precise than the card software.

· Add your own embellishments to create a 3D effect, or textured look. Very Original!

Hope this information has been helpful. I appreciate all of you.
