Well, it's been way too long since I've emailed
all of you, and I'm wondering who's left on this list of over 700 people.
I've been neglecting this part of my life, but I've thought of you all many
times, just didn't get it done. I need one of those voice recorders on the
road, and then one for my computer to dictate. I've discovered many things
since we last visited, and I'll try to share a few of them now. At least no
one can accuse me of spamming your email inbox.
Internet
Explorer 7
I guess we all will have to download IE7
eventually. It's supposed to be more secure. Be sure and set a restore
point before you do get IE7, so you can go backward if you don't like it, or
if one of your other programs starts acting strangely.
Set Restore point:
Click on start, all programs, accessories,
system tools, system restore, and click create restore point, next and type
in "before IE7", and click create, and close,
Best advice I can give you.
Of course, many of you already have IE7 and if
all is well, great, but if you've noticed you have problems with other
software, or printers, especially HP (Hewlett Packard), you can restore from
you restore point you created, or you can remove in control panel.
Click on start, control panel, add/remove programs, and remove "windows
Internet Explorer 7". You won't lose a thing, and your software that
may have been disabled will work again.
PayPal Users
I have been using PayPal since it came on the
Internet, and really do feel secure with it. As with any financial
institution, you will receive some Phishing (Fake) emails from time to
time. Here are some helpful hints to use to keep you safe from people
trying to get personal information from you.
- Log in safely.
To log in to your PayPal account or access the website, always open a new
web browser and type
https://www.paypal.com
in the address box.
- Be aware of email
greetings.
Emails from PayPal will always address you by your first and last name or
the business name associated with your account. Fraudulent emails often
begin with a generic salutation, such as, “Dear PayPal User.”
- Don’t download
attachments posing to be Paypal.
PayPal emails will never ask you to download attachments or software.
Attachments often contain viruses that harm your computer or may compromise
your account.
- Never reply to an
email with personal information.
"If we require information from you, we will always request that you
securely log in to your PayPal account first."
For more details, visit the PayPal
Security Center.
If you think that you have received fake
(spoof) email, please forward it to
spoof@paypal.com and then delete
it from your inbox.
